FiraPhone is designed to replace the Skype dial pad job: calling landlines and mobiles from a computer. It is not trying to replace every Skype chat, meeting, or community feature. If you need paid calls to real phone numbers from a browser, that is the core use case.

No contract is required. FiraPhone uses pay-as-you-go prepaid calling balance, so you can add credit when you need it and use it for supported destinations. Unused balance remains available as long as your account is active.

Yes. Get your own UK, US or Canadian number for £3.99 a month: calls you make from FiraPhone show it, and people can call you back on it in FiraPhone. Sign in, open Virtual Numbers and press Get my number. We will email you to choose your number before anything is charged.
Call quality depends on your device, microphone, browser, internet connection, and the carrier route to the destination. For best results, use a stable connection, allow microphone access, and use headphones where possible.
Your connection to FiraPhone and the call media are encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols (TLS and SRTP). Note that once a call reaches the traditional phone network (PSTN), standard carrier handling applies, so calls are not end-to-end encrypted. FiraPhone does not record calls in the standard outbound calling flow.
